Origins…

Hello,

I started photography as a teenager. (I think my first pictures were scenics taken with my father´s Rolleyflex). I always had an interest in nature and in anthropology. My first “anthropological” pictures were in the late 1950´s (this time with my own camera, a Leica III F) of gypsies who were camping near my parent´s house in the suburbs of Brussels, Belgium. As I am traveling I have no access to the pictures but I intend to post them some day. The area is all built up now, so no more gypsies…

First post… from the Brazil Highlands

Hello,

Well, I am not familiar with blogs. I am just trying to see what it does. At the moment I am in Belo Horizonte, one of the largest cities in Brazil, on vacation with my wife and daughter. I live in Belém at the mouth of the Amazon, but - I forgot to say I am a photographer - my zone of action recently has been the highlands of Central Brazil, a vast complex of plateaus and wooded savanna. This blog will have no general direction; whatever goes through my mind on any day may go.

The thought that went through my mind today is, after trying to find my hotel for two hours yesterday, that good road and street signalization would substantially diminish fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, thus help reducing global warming. OK, I made my contribution to saving the world today. Until next time!
