Salgado has been one of my favorite photographers, also. Since I saw his photographs of the Ethiopian famine, I was in awe of him. Like your website on Photoshelter. Tim McGuire from SAA is forming a site for many photographers including Glen Allison on Evostock.com on Photoshelter. You might be interested. I am redoing my website and plan to submit to his group. Also thinking about one just for education with a couple of photographers on PS>

Dear Mr. Jangoux, I found your website through google, searching for “tropical rain forest, jpg”. I am not an image buyer. I am a PhD student of education in the Philippines. I was looking to download 1 or 2 freely available pictures for a paper presentation in an academic conference. Then I found your pics. They are very, very, very good. (I wish I had the gift for photography like you do.) My topic is about SPECIALIZATION, and the tropical rain forest is the prime example of mature systems whose members are extremely specialized by niche, allowing high diversity and stability. An aerial view, as well as one from the forest floor would be most useful. I know you said you sell the pictures. How much would you charge for permission to use one or two of them in my powerpoint presentation? Would you consider just lending me the images for the presentation (not part of a publication), if I include your copyright notice and URL? Thank you very much. Lyn Dimaano

Matt, Sorry to be late in responding. Still learning how this blog works. I have the Brussels photos scanned with the discontinued amateur Olympus scanner, full of scratches. Maybe at a small resolution the scratches won´t show. I plan to introduce photographs in my blog as soon as I am satisfied with the workings of my website, which is in permanent construction. Yes, you will see the Gypsies some day, the jazz musicians too (Miles, Dizzy, Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Stitt etc). And yes, I think I remember having a picture of Bud Powell playing Round about Midnight, if I can locate the negative. I cannot do it right now, as I have much Photoshop work to do for my website, where I badly need to place new images. And I will soon be going on a trip, at least until the end of April. So please, be patient. Jacques
